It was very strange when Apple HomePod was sold, months after it was discontinued. But now it is making sense. Some people are willing to pay a premium price for the same old smart speaker, even more than what Apple HomePod was initially worth.
On average, an Apple HomePod fetched $375 this past week. That’s 25 percent more than Apple charged.
It is obvious that some Apple HomePods are worth more than others, a used speaker with no box might only net you $220 before eBay fees, but there have been a few factory sealed non-refurbished HomePods that sell for over $500.
In fact, some sellers are boasting that they got Apple to replace their old HomePods with brand-new units just so they could flip them.
When these expensive sealed-box outliers were filtered out, the average price came up to $350 the last week.
This was still $50 more than the brand-new one.
Why Is The Apple HomePod In Demand?
This is a very good question, that one might ask.
It is a piece of Apple history and you would require two of them for stereo or more for the whole experience. Unlike its more affordable successor the HomePod Mini, it’s acoustically quite good.
Experts have stated that the smart home is one of the few places where Siri actually excels. People are realizing that it is the only option besides the worse-sounding HomePod Mini.
