This spacecraft is crashing into an asteroid on a ‘planetary defense’ mission

The Double Asteroid Redirection Test will deliberately smash a near-Earth asteroid to try and knock it off course. The scientists at NASA and Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory hope the DART mission could one day save Earth from a catastrophic impact.
