tvOS 18.2 Beta 3 Introduces New Snoopy Screensaver for Apple TV

During WWDC 2024 this past June, Apple hinted at new screensavers for the Apple TV, featuring visuals inspired by popular movies and shows on Apple TV+. Now, with the latest beta of tvOS 18.2, Apple has begun to roll out one of these screensavers starring Snoopy.

Apple TV introduces new Snoopy screensaver

As highlighted by Aaron Zollo and validated by DMN, the tvOS 18.2 beta 3 – available for developers – brings a new Snoopy screensaver to Apple TV.

For those who might not know, Apple obtained the rights to the Peanuts franchise in 2018, just a year ahead of launching Apple TV+, and has since produced several new Snoopy titles.

The new screensaver will showcase Snoopy and his friends in a variety of settings when the Apple TV remains inactive for a period of time. This Snoopy screensaver joins the existing Photos & Slideshows and Portraits options, the latter being introduced with tvOS 18.0. Additionally, Apple has teased a screensaver based on the Apple TV+ series “Foundation,” although it has not yet been released.

Alongside the introduction of the Snoopy screensaver, tvOS 18.2 will also support various aspect ratios, allowing users to connect Apple TV to projectors or ultra-wide monitors.

This update further enhances the Enhance Dialogue feature and activates subtitles automatically when the Mute button is pressed. Additionally, tvOS 18 introduces a revamped Fitness+ app and allows users to designate a specific iPhone as a dedicated camera for FaceTime and other applications.

The tvOS 18.2 beta is currently available to developers, and the public release, including the new Snoopy screensaver and other features, is scheduled for December. This update will be compatible with Apple TVs from 2015 onwards.
