The lineup for Apple TV+ in 2025 is beginning to take shape, with the latest announcement about a film inspired by Indiana Jones, featuring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. Here are the details on Fountain of Youth.
Fountain of Youth set to premiere on Apple TV+ from director Guy Ritchie
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Apple Original Films had secured the next major project from director Guy Ritchie.
Entitled Fountain of Youth, the film stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman in leading roles.
Thanks to a preview by Entertainment Weekly, we now have additional insights into this upcoming Apple TV+ feature.
Director Ritchie shared with ET that the film is “inspired by Indiana Jones but is set in contemporary times.” The two main characters are estranged siblings who team up for a global heist to discover the legendary spring.
“They both come from a background of archaeological pursuits focused on finding significant artifacts, so they share a history,” Ritchie explains. “Though estranged, they discover a reason to collaborate in their quest for this treasure.”
Indeed, it bears a striking resemblance to the classic Indiana Jones films.
The first public images for Fountain of Youth certainly support this notion.
Release details for Fountain of Youth still pending
Apple has yet to announce a release date or any details regarding a theatrical strategy for the film.
However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Fountain of Youth opts for a direct streaming release on Apple TV+, similar to the recent releases of Wolfs and Blitz, along with the upcoming The Gorge in early 2025.
Recently, it was reported that Apple is adjusting its film distribution strategy to reduce theatrical releases. The notable exception at this time appears to be the upcoming F1 film featuring Brad Pitt, which will receive significant theatrical support from Apple.
