Apple Intelligence is currently offered on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, but iPhone 16 variants have a unique capability known as Visual Intelligence. Initially, it was thought that the absence of Camera Control on the iPhone 15 Pro was the reason, but with the release of the iPhone 16e, which supports Visual Intelligence, that changed. Apple has now confirmed that this feature will soon be accessible for iPhone 15 Pro users as well.
Apple has confirmed that Visual Intelligence will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro
In a conversation with Daring Fireball’s John Gruber (via MacMagazine), an Apple representative mentioned that a forthcoming iOS update will bring Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro models using the Action Button, similar to what is available on the newly unveiled iPhone 16e. Although a specific timeline has not been provided, it is expected that this feature will be included with the upcoming iOS 18.4 update.
For those who are not familiar, Visual Intelligence is an integral aspect of Apple Intelligence that allows users to leverage their camera for discovering more about their surroundings. The feature can identify text, offering translations, summaries, or even auditory readings thanks to AI. Furthermore, Visual Intelligence enables users to broaden their search results using tools like Google or ChatGPT.
On iPhone 16 models, Visual Intelligence can be activated by pressing and holding the Camera Control. For users of the iPhone 16e, the feature is accessible via the Action Button or a newly added Control Center toggle. This same functionality will be extended to the iPhone 15 Pro with the anticipated software update.
DMN previously reported that Apple has been investigating this innovative method for initiating Visual Intelligence since the iOS 18.3 beta phase.

Apple is anticipated to release the first beta of iOS 18.4 within the next few days. Alongside this enhancement, the update is also set to introduce Apple Intelligence support in additional languages for the first time. However, recent rumors suggest that the rollout of the more advanced Siri with Onscreen Awareness might be delayed due to technical complications.
