On Thursday, WhatsApp announced an upcoming enhancement for its users. Starting today, the platform will offer a variety of chat themes for those on iOS and Android, allowing users to personalize their chats with “vibrant chat bubbles and fresh wallpapers.”
Introducing Chat Themes in WhatsApp
“You asked for it, and now it’s here! We’re launching chat themes, enabling you to customize your chats with lively chat bubbles and new wallpapers,” the company stated.
Previously, users could alter the WhatsApp wallpaper, but this update expands customization options through the introduction of themes. Now, users can alter the colors of chat bubbles with a “wide selection to choose from.” Pre-set themes can adjust both the backgrounds and bubbles, and users also have the option to change each element separately.
For wallpapers, users can select from 30 new options or upload an image from their photo library as a background.
Users have the choice of applying a single theme across all chats or setting specific themes for individual chats. It’s important to note that themes are only visible to the user, so friends won’t see the selected theme. Themes can be utilized for both chats and channels.
To modify your WhatsApp theme, simply open the app and navigate to Settings > Chats > Default Chat Theme.
WhatsApp mentions that this feature is being gradually rolled out and will reach users worldwide in the coming weeks. The app is available for free on the App Store, and users should ensure they update to the latest version to access the new features.
