WhatsApp recently rolled out several new features to its instant messaging platform. Some of these are the new Community, extended group support, improved security, privacy options, and more. Now, it appears that the company is working on a new feature that will allow users to send voice notes via Status.
WABetaInfo has reported that several WhatsApp beta users on Android running WhatsApp beta version 2.22.21.5 update is now seeing a new voice notes feature while posting a new status. According to the screenshots shared some beta testers have started setting a new microphone icon at the bottom while creating a new status on WA. That allows users to record and share voice notes via status.
WhatsApp Voice Notes For Status
Based on the report, WhatsApp Beta for Android users running the latest version can share voice notes as status updates. The feature is placed within the text status section. If the text status feature is available for them as it is also in beta as of now.
WA allows usual voice recording features in the state as well such as the ability to pause and resume recording, the recording time limit is still set to 30 seconds.
The report claims that users will have to update their WA app to listen to the voice notes posted as status.
In addition, the voice notes posted as status are end-to-end encrypted. This means, that the notes shared are as secure and private as other messages, images, etc shared using WA.
Do note that the feature is currently rolling out the select WA Beta for Android users. In case you are a beta tester and aren’t able to see the feature, it may have been rolled out for you yet. It may take a while before WhatsApp decides to roll it out to a wider audience.
