YouTube Vanced Forced To Shut Down By Google Due To Legal Reasons

Following a legal threat from Google, the popular YouTube Vanced app will be withdrawn. Vanced’s founders have announced that the project would be shut down in the next few days, with all download links withdrawn. While the app will continue to operate for those who have it loaded on Android, it is expected to stop running at some time shortly if there are no more updates. The Vanced owners claim they were forced to abandon the project “for legal reasons.”

Vanced’s proprietors received a cease and desist notice from Google lately, forcing the developers to stop distributing and developing the software.

YouTube Vanced Will Have To Remove Youtube Logo

In a Discord chat to The Verge, a Vanced team admin claims, “We were requested to delete any references to ‘YouTube,’ replace the logo, and erase all connections linked to YouTube goods.” Vanced is a popular Android third-party YouTube software that allows users to disable all video advertising on YouTube without having to pay for a Premium membership. Vanced also features modifications not available in the original YouTube for Android app, such as a pure black theme.

YouTube Vanced is the most recent victim of Google’s crackdown on third-party YouTube applications. Last year, Google-owned YouTube took down two popular Discord music bots before launching a test of ad-supported YouTube integration in Discord just weeks later. The popular Discord music bots Rythm and Groovy also evaded advertisements, allowing Discord members to listen to music together.

A Telegram message from the YouTube Vanced owners states, “Vanced has been discontinued.” “We understand that this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but it’s something we have to do.” We’ve contacted Google for comments on the cancellation of Vanced, and we’ll keep you updated.
