It has been recently announced that the video conferencing platform, Zoom, is about to make its AI personal assistant tool available to all of the paid accounts at a very minimal cost. This tool, which is called the Zoom AI Companion, was recently released as a free trial for some of the companies, which have used the video conferencing platform.
Currently, the AI Companion is simply a part of most of the standard Zoom subscriptions. On Tuesday, if someone’s company pays for a Zoom account, they would also be able to utilize the AI Companion, which does quite a few tasks like composing Chat messages and summarizing meetings for people.
Zoom Has Updated Its AI Companion Tool
The platform got a major surge in popularity when the pandemic hit, as most employees started working remotely. But it also came under a lot of fire for its terms of service which stated that it could use video calls, and other consumer data in order to train the models.
Following this major backlash, the platform swiftly updated the terms and then published a blog post where it clarified its policy- stating that for AI, the company did not use any form of audio, video, or chat content in order to train the models with the consent of the customers. This does remain true for most of its AI Companion tools as well. Also, Zoom went on to add that the AI Companion tool was usually toggled off by default.
If the AI tool was enabled in Zoom meetings, the attendees would be able to use the Companion in order to catch up on all the data that they missed in a private side-panel conversation with the AI. When any meeting ends, the admin will also be able to generate and share the summary of the meeting with the attendees.
